Nothing is for eternity ...
Three months after the statutory resting period or the right of use has expired, the cemetery operator may remove a grave. This is stated in the cemetery statutes. However, it also states that the owner of the municipal cemeteries must inform the beneficiaries beforehand.
This applies both in person (as a notice at the grave or in writing) and through a public announcement. To this end, all row graves that may be cleared in the coming months are listed in the Amtsblatt (opens in a new tab) at the beginning of the year. The same applies to designated graves whose right of use expired in the previous year.
IMPORTANT: For graves whose burial period or right of use has already expired prior to publication in the Amtsblatt, the date of publication serves as Amtsblatt (opens in a new tab) at the beginning of the year. The same applies to designated graves whose right of use expired in the previous year.
IMPORTANT: For graves whose burial period or right of use has already expired prior to publication in the Amtsblatt, the date of publication serves as the starting point for the three-month period. For all others, the actual expiration date applies.
