You need a permit to provide commercial passenger transportation by motor bus on an occasional basis.

Occasional transport includes:

• Excursion trips
• Vacation trips
• Trips with rental buses

The permit is valid for a maximum of 10 years. Before your temporary permit expires, you can submit an application for renewal to the licensing authority responsible for your area. Based on the new, temporary permit, you can continue operating your bus service seamlessly.

• As a business owner, you currently hold or have previously held a motor bus permit.
• You can demonstrate the financial viability of the business.
• You, or the person appointed to manage the business, are trustworthy.
• You, or the person appointed to manage the business, are professionally qualified.
• You have your place of business or branch office in Germany.

There are no notes or special features.

• File a lawsuit in administrative court if the appeal is unsuccessful.

• Validity period: 10 years
  

• 3 months A decision
  on your application will be made within 3 months. Processing may be extended by 3 months if necessary.

The licensing authority of the respective independent city or district is responsible.

• Current and Expiring Permits
• Application for renewal of the motor bus permit, including the following information:
  • the applicant’s first and last name
  • Residence and place of business
  • For individuals: date of birth, place of birth
  • Number of vehicles, vehicle type, and passenger capacity of the vehicles to be used
• Certificates of employment or examination certificates attesting to the professional qualifications of the applicant or the person appointed to manage the business
• Certificate of equity capital, and, if applicable, a supplementary certificate, not older than 3 months
• Certificates regarding tax matters from the tax office, the municipality, the social security agency, and the workers’ compensation association, not older than 3 months:
  • from the company
  • the legal representative
  • the person appointed to manage the business or the traffic management)
• Certificate of Good Conduct for submission to the authorities
• Extract from the Central Trade Register
• Extract from the Driver Fitness Registry (FAER)
• List of vehicles
• Proof of liability insurance for buses, including the vehicle identification number (WKZ)
• Business registration

The amount of the fees depends on

• the number of vehicles and
• the duration of the permit.
