Building contracting
The department manages budget funds for investments, for example in schools, daycare centers and for Gebäudewirtschaft Mainz. It develops contract management, sets standards for new construction and management and centrally processes all supplementary claims for construction projects of the city administration.
Through contract management, the department ensures a clear division of roles between the state capital of Mainz, as the owner of its buildings, and Gebäudewirtschaft Mainz (a municipal agency), as the central service provider for the planning, construction, and management of municipal properties.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Contract Management: Development and implementation of a structured system to govern the relationship between the State Capital of Mainz and Gebäudewirtschaft Mainz (GWM)
Construction Standards (opens in a new tab): Development of uniform guidelines and processes for the areas of new construction, renovation, and management of municipal buildings
Amendment Management: Centralized processing of all incoming amendment requests exceeding 20,000 euros in the execution of construction projects for the State Capital of Mainz
Financial Responsibility
In addition, the department is responsible for the cash flows from the city budget for the implementation of all capital construction projects, such as schools, daycare centers, and other public buildings.
