The department is responsible for central fire prevention tasks. This includes issuing fire safety statements in the building permit process and in accordance with the Federal Immission Control Act as well as carrying out hazard prevention inspections in special buildings. It also coordinates fire safety guards in places of assembly, inspects and inspects fire protection equipment and issues statements on safety concepts for major events. Other tasks include fire safety education and prevention.
